LemonEdge Raises $21M Series A to Modernize Private Markets Fund Accounting

LemonEdge has secured $21 million in Series A funding to accelerate the development of its fund accounting platform for private markets, as institutional investors continue modernising the operational infrastructure behind alternative assets.

LemonEdge raises $21 million in Series A funding led by Blackstone to expand its fund accounting platform for private markets.

The round was led by Blackstone Innovations Investments, with participation from BNY and Sidekick Partners. The backing of two major financial institutions reflects growing demand for technology that streamlines fund operations across private equity, venture capital, private credit, and real estate.

LemonEdge develops cloud-based fund accounting software designed specifically for alternative investment managers. Its platform replaces manual processes and spreadsheet-driven workflows with automated tools for fund accounting, waterfall calculations, financial reporting, and investor administration.

As private markets continue to attract record levels of institutional capital, fund managers are facing increasing pressure to modernise legacy back-office systems. Traditional accounting platforms often struggle to support the complexity of modern fund structures, creating demand for software purpose-built for private market operations.

The new funding will support product development, expand the company’s engineering capabilities, and accelerate commercial growth as LemonEdge increases adoption across the alternative investment industry.

The participation of Blackstone and BNY also provides strategic validation beyond financial backing. Both organisations are deeply involved in private markets, giving LemonEdge access to investors with first-hand experience of the operational challenges facing fund managers and administrators.

The investment highlights a broader trend in fintech, where large financial institutions are backing infrastructure providers that improve efficiency across capital markets. Rather than investing only in customer-facing financial products, institutional investors are increasingly supporting the technology platforms that power accounting, reporting, compliance, and operational workflows behind the scenes.
