Cashflows has invested in UK payments fintech Tap & Go in a strategic growth deal designed to deepen their existing commercial relationship and support the expansion of Tap & Go’s merchant payment offering.

The investment will help Tap & Go move beyond its existing card terminal business into ecommerce payments, virtual payments, and multi-site solutions, giving merchants access to a broader set of payment and reconciliation tools through a single provider.
The two companies began working together in 2025, with Cashflows providing acquiring, processing, and settlement infrastructure for the card machines deployed by Tap & Go. The new investment strengthens that relationship while giving Tap & Go additional resources to develop its product offering and enter new market segments.
Tap & Go plans to invest in product development, hiring, and marketing while expanding into sectors including universities, stadiums, dentistry, hotels, builders’ merchants, and automotive businesses.
“While the relationship may have started as a commercial partnership, this is not simply a financial investment. We believe in what Tap & Go are building and the energy from the team is palpable.”
Hannah Fitzsimons, CEO at Cashflows
For merchants operating across multiple locations or sales channels, the expanded offering could simplify payment operations by bringing card acquiring, ecommerce transactions, virtual payments, and reconciliation into a more connected setup.
Cashflows’ role as the acquiring and payments infrastructure provider allows Tap & Go to focus on its merchant relationships and the development of solutions tailored to specific industries, while relying on an established processing and settlement infrastructure.
The investment also highlights a partnership-led approach to fintech growth. Rather than pursuing a large external funding round, Tap & Go is combining strategic capital with an existing commercial relationship to expand its product capabilities and reach new customers.
“We are building a brand and proposition that means customers come to Tap & Go because they know we can support them wherever their growth takes them.”
Anna McDonald, Managing Director at Tap & Go
Both companies are led by women, with Tap & Go positioning the partnership as a collaboration between two challenger businesses seeking to compete in a payments market dominated by larger processors and financial institutions.
For Cashflows, the investment provides another route to expand its presence in the merchant payments market. Beyond supplying infrastructure, taking a stake in a merchant-facing payments business gives the company an opportunity to support the development of new payment products and potentially explore further strategic opportunities.
The deal reflects a broader trend in UK fintech, where payment infrastructure providers and merchant-focused businesses are increasingly combining commercial partnerships with strategic investments. For smaller fintechs, this model can provide access to established infrastructure and expertise while allowing them to expand without relying entirely on traditional venture capital.
