Deluxe Corporation has agreed to acquire payment technology provider Celero Commerce for approximately $625 million, accelerating its transformation into a larger payments and financial technology company.

The all-cash transaction is one of the largest payments infrastructure acquisitions of 2026 and is expected to significantly increase the contribution of Payments and Data to Deluxe’s overall business.
The company says the acquisition will strengthen its merchant acquiring capabilities, expand its partner network, and increase its presence across key payment processing verticals.
Expanding merchant payments capabilities
Founded in Nashville, Celero Commerce provides integrated payment processing, business management software, and data solutions for small and medium-sized businesses.
The company generated more than $200 million in revenue during 2025 and serves merchants through a broad distribution network that includes software providers, financial institutions, independent sales organizations, and strategic partners.

Deluxe believes the acquisition will enhance its ability to deliver payment acceptance solutions across multiple channels while expanding its reach within the merchant services market.
Following the transaction, the combined business will have a larger footprint across:
- Merchant acquiring
- Payment processing
- Embedded payments
- Software-integrated payments
- Financial institution partnerships
Scale becomes a competitive advantage
The acquisition significantly increases Deluxe’s transaction processing scale.
Together, Deluxe and Celero processed approximately $70 billion in gross transaction volume during 2025, positioning the combined company among the largest non-bank merchant acquirers in the United States.
Management expects the additional scale to improve operating efficiency, strengthen distribution capabilities, and support future investments in payment technology and infrastructure.
The company also expects to benefit from cross-selling opportunities, expanded software partnerships, and deeper penetration across existing customer bases.
Supporting Deluxe’s transformation strategy
For much of its history, Deluxe was known primarily for business checks and payment-related services.
Over recent years, however, the company has focused on building a larger payments and data business through acquisitions and technology investments.
According to Deluxe, Payments and Data are expected to represent approximately 57% of total company revenue following the acquisition, compared with 31% in 2020.
The company expects the transaction to be accretive to adjusted earnings during the first full year after closing and anticipates realizing more than $15 million in annual cost synergies within two years.
The acquisition is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
