Moment has raised $22 million in Series A funding to accelerate the expansion of its payments infrastructure across Africa, as demand for seamless cross-border transactions continues to grow across the continent.

The round was led by AlphaCode Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors General Catalyst and MultiChoice. Canal+ also joined the round as a new investor, adding strategic backing from one of Africa’s largest media and entertainment companies.
Operating across multiple African markets, Moment is building payment infrastructure designed to simplify transactions in a region where businesses often face fragmented financial systems, multiple currencies, and varying regulatory requirements.
The fresh capital will be used to expand the company’s technology platform, strengthen its presence in existing markets, and support entry into additional countries as it scales its pan-African payments network.
Canal+’s investment could also create opportunities beyond financial backing. With a significant presence across francophone and sub-Saharan Africa, the media group may provide strategic distribution opportunities as Moment continues expanding its services.
The funding highlights continued investor confidence in Africa’s digital payments sector, which remains one of the fastest-growing areas of fintech despite a more selective global venture capital environment. As businesses increasingly require efficient cross-border payment solutions, infrastructure providers capable of connecting fragmented financial ecosystems are becoming a key part of the continent’s digital economy.
