Moss Reaches €1B Valuation With €35M Series C

German fintech Moss has reached unicorn status after raising €35 million in Series C funding, bringing its valuation to €1 billion as the company expands from spend management into AI-powered finance and accounting automation.

Moss reaches a €1 billion valuation after raising €35 million in Series C funding.

The round was led by fintech investor Portage, with participation from existing backer Cherry Ventures. The latest investment brings Moss’s total funding to more than €200 million since the company was founded in Berlin in 2019.

Founded by Stephan Haslebacher, Ferdinand Meyer, Anton Rummel, and CEO Ante Spittler, Moss initially built its business around corporate cards and expense management before expanding into a broader financial operations platform.

The company plans to use the new capital to accelerate development of its Finance AI, targeting time-consuming finance workflows including accounts receivable management, journal entries, and month-end closing.

Rather than giving AI complete control over financial operations, Moss is taking a human-directed approach. The technology is designed to prepare accounting workflows while leaving consequential decisions to finance teams.

“Control, not full AI autonomy.”

The company says this approach is intended to combine the efficiency of automation with the oversight required for sensitive financial processes.

Moss currently supports more than 5,000 businesses across Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and other European markets. Its platform brings together corporate spending, expense management, and financial workflows, helping finance teams reduce manual administrative work.

About Moss

Moss is a Berlin-based fintech focused on spend management and financial operations for businesses. Founded in 2019, the company combines corporate cards, expense management, accounts payable, and financial workflow automation within a single platform.

The latest funding follows several previous rounds, including a €21 million Series A, a €25 million Series A extension, and a €75 million Series B in 2022. The Series B valued Moss at approximately €500 million at the time.

With its latest round doubling that valuation, Moss joins the growing group of European fintech unicorns building technology at the intersection of payments, financial operations, and artificial intelligence.
