Checkout.com scales APAC operations following 71% surge in processing volume

Global digital payments platform Checkout.com has announced a major expansion in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, driven by a 71% year-over-year increase in total processing volume (TPV). This growth follows a series of enterprise partnerships and a sustained 50% annual increase in regional net revenue over the past three years.

The company’s momentum is largely fueled by high-growth sectors such as marketplaces, digital goods, travel, and gaming. Checkout.com now supports leading regional brands including Alibaba, Trip.com, Temu, SHEIN, JD, and NetEase.

Regional expansion and talent growth

To support its expanding merchant base, Checkout.com is increasing headcount across key APAC hubs:

  • Strategic offices: Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Sydney
  • Focus areas: Local product development and dedicated on-the-ground technical support

This regional growth aligns with strong global performance, including a return to full-year EBITDA profitability and a 30% increase in global net revenue after processing over $300 billion in e-commerce transactions in 2025.

Pioneering “agentic commerce”

Looking ahead, Checkout.com is positioning itself as a core infrastructure layer for the emerging concept of agentic commerce where AI agents execute transactions on behalf of users.

To support this shift, the company is integrating with key industry initiatives, including:

  • OpenAI’s agentic commerce protocol
  • Google’s universal commerce protocol
  • Visa intelligent commerce
  • Mastercard’s AgentPay framework

Leadership commentary

Brian Sze, General Manager of APAC at Checkout.com, stated that the company’s growth is driven by its ability to adapt to market changes and remain close to customer needs.

“We’re providing merchants with the infrastructure, expertise, and local support they need to scale with confidence,” Sze noted, highlighting the company’s focus on enabling businesses to capture opportunities in AI-driven commerce.
