Chime Launches Commission-Free Investing With Chime Invest

Chime has expanded its financial services ecosystem with the launch of Chime Invest, a new investing platform that enables members to buy stocks and ETFs commission-free or invest through professionally managed portfolios directly within the Chime app.

The launch brings investing alongside the company’s existing banking, payments, and savings products, allowing users to manage their finances from a single platform. Chime says the new service is designed to remove common barriers that have prevented many Americans from entering the investment market.

According to the company, members can begin investing with as little as $1, eliminating minimum balance requirements that have traditionally discouraged first-time investors. Users can choose between self-directed investing, which provides access to a broad range of U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds, or managed portfolios that automatically allocate investments based on an individual’s financial goals and risk tolerance.

The managed portfolios are operated by Atomic Invest, an SEC-registered investment adviser. Chime Prime members will receive portfolio management without annual management fees, while other membership tiers will pay reduced management fees depending on their plan.

The launch reflects Chime’s broader strategy of evolving beyond digital banking into a full-service personal finance platform. By integrating investing into an app that members already use for everyday banking, the company aims to simplify wealth building for consumers who may have previously found investing too complex or inaccessible.

The new offering also complements Chime’s existing high-yield savings account, which currently offers annual percentage yields of up to 3.75% APY, giving members access to both saving and investing tools within a single digital experience.

The introduction of Chime Invest comes as digital financial platforms increasingly seek to combine banking, investing, and wealth management into unified ecosystems. Rather than requiring customers to use separate brokerage applications, fintech providers are integrating investment products directly into their core banking experiences to increase engagement and support long-term financial growth.

General availability of Chime Invest will be rolled out to eligible members over the coming weeks.
