Wirex Goes Live on Tempo for Enterprise Stablecoin Card Programs

Wirex has integrated Tempo into its stablecoin infrastructure platform, allowing fintechs and digital platforms issuing cards through Wirex to use Tempo as a settlement layer for enterprise stablecoin card programs.

The live integration combines Wirex’s regulated card issuance infrastructure with Tempo’s stablecoin-native payment network, giving companies a more streamlined path to launching stablecoin-backed payment cards.

Wirex provides partners with a single infrastructure stack covering card issuance, wallets, compliance and stablecoin settlement. As a principal member of both Visa and Mastercard, the company can issue cards under its own licences, while fintechs and digital platforms can integrate the infrastructure into their own products.

According to Wirex, its stablecoin card infrastructure reached $1 billion in annualized on-chain transaction volume just 131 days after launch and doubled that figure to $2 billion within another 110 days.

Why Tempo?

Tempo was selected as a settlement layer designed specifically for stablecoin payments. The network offers transaction finality in under one second, predictable fees, private payment capabilities and stablecoin-denominated network fees, removing the need for users or businesses to maintain a separate blockchain gas token.

The integration also aims to simplify reconciliation by keeping payment and settlement information on the same infrastructure rail.

Through Tempo’s Stablecoin Advisory and engineering teams, enterprises can receive support with designing card and settlement flows, selecting infrastructure partners and moving products from architecture and prototype stages into production.

What It Means for Fintechs

The partnership gives companies building stablecoin payment products access to two layers of infrastructure through a more integrated setup: Wirex – regulated card issuance, wallets and compliance infrastructure and Tempo – stablecoin-native settlement and payment infrastructure

For fintechs looking to launch stablecoin-backed cards, the combination could reduce the complexity of connecting card programs with blockchain-based settlement systems.

The Bigger Picture

Stablecoin infrastructure is increasingly moving beyond crypto trading and into mainstream payments, cards and enterprise financial products. Companies are now competing to provide the underlying infrastructure needed to make stablecoins usable for everyday transactions.

The Wirex and Tempo integration reflects this shift toward stablecoin-powered card programs, where blockchain settlement happens behind the scenes while businesses and consumers continue using familiar card-based payment products.

Daniel Rowlands, General Manager of Wirex, said the partnership gives Wirex partners access to fast, predictable and private settlement while helping them move from integration to production faster.
