Commonwealth Bank’s venture scaling arm, x15ventures, has launched PaidIt, a new payments platform designed to help organisations manage large-scale disbursements such as customer refunds, remediation payments, and other mass payout programmes.

The launch comes as Australia moves toward the phase-out of cheques, creating additional pressure for businesses and institutions to adopt digital alternatives for distributing funds to large numbers of recipients.
PaidIt is designed to address payment scenarios where organisations need to send funds at scale while maintaining greater control and visibility over the process. Its target users include businesses and institutions in financial services, insurance, utilities, and government.
Modernising Mass Payments
Large payout programmes can involve thousands of individual transactions, creating significant administrative and operational challenges when organisations rely on manual processes, cheques, or disconnected payment systems.
PaidIt aims to bring these activities into a more centralised workflow, helping organisations manage payments from initiation through to distribution while reducing manual administration and the risk of errors.
Remediation payments are one particularly relevant use case. Australian financial institutions have faced increased regulatory scrutiny in recent years, creating a need for payment processes that can handle large numbers of affected customers while providing clear records of transactions.
The platform can also be used for customer refunds and other situations where organisations need to distribute money to large groups of recipients.
Digital Payments as Cheques Decline
Australia’s move away from cheques is creating a deadline for organisations that still depend on paper-based payment processes.
Rather than adapting general-purpose payment infrastructure to manage these specific requirements, PaidIt is positioned as a purpose-built solution for mass disbursements.
The platform gives organisations another option for managing high-volume payouts digitally, potentially making the process faster and easier to track while reducing the operational burden associated with traditional methods.
For sectors such as financial services and insurance, where large-scale customer payments can result from remediation programmes, claims, refunds, or other events, specialised payout infrastructure can also help improve consistency and auditability.
x15ventures Expands Its Fintech Portfolio
PaidIt is the latest venture developed through x15ventures, Commonwealth Bank’s venture scaling arm, which focuses on building and scaling businesses addressing specific gaps in financial services and the wider Australian market.
The model allows x15ventures to develop products that can leverage Commonwealth Bank’s technology and financial infrastructure while addressing use cases beyond the bank’s traditional customer base.
PaidIt is therefore positioned as a standalone payments solution rather than simply another feature within CommBank’s existing banking products.
The launch also highlights the growing importance of specialised payment infrastructure as businesses move away from legacy methods and toward digital-first financial operations.
